To Our Guests

We invite you to relax and enjoy the unique atmosphere of our Brew Pub. The Church Brew Works has restored the inherent beauty of "St. Johns" to make your visit more pleasurable. We welcome you to explore and take notice of the adaptive reuses to this wonderful building.

You may be sitting in one of the original pews that have been reutilized in the dining room as booth seating. The original ninety-year old pews were hand cut from 24' length and hand finished to the present 54" lengths. These quote "mini pews" were intentionally designed to be longer than the tables to facilitate ease of entry.

When viewing the bar, you may notice the top of the bar has been built from the oak planks salvaged from the shortening of the pews. The reddish orange hue of the flooring comes from the original Douglas Fir floors. These floors were uncovered and meticulously restored after laying dormant under plywood for 50 years. The original eight lanterns in the center bay were removed, repainted gold and reinstalled after complete refurbishment. The lanterns now illuminate the detailing of the original cypress wood ceiling.

The cobalt blue in the sanctuary provides a celestial back drop to the brew house and complements the copper & stainless tanks of the brewery. The name for the large canopy behind the brew house is the Baldachinum or Ciborium. The Ciborium is the more historic name of the two. The Ciborium is a design feature of ancient building construction which provided protection against falling ceilings.

The former courtyard of the rectory was converted into our outdoor patio  called "The Hop Garden." From the Hop Garden, one is able to view the Campanile (Bell Tower) and the stained glass windows. This nook is nestled in between the kitchen and restaurant. It provides the pleasure of being outside and the serenity of a private hideaway.

The former confessional in the dining room was removed to provide the necessary link in the kitchen. You may notice that the bricks salvaged from the removal of the confessional have been reused for the pillars on the outdoor sign, the facade on the outdoor ramp and the facade of the new kitchen link. The other confessional remains intact behind the bar and houses Church Brew Works merchandise for sale.

The Church Brew Works Staff and Management are here to provide you the highest quality food and the highest quality beer complemented by our unique and enjoyable atmosphere. We hope you will come discover the delights of our restaurant.

Sincerely,

        Sean Casey - President

Kevin McCullogh - General Manager

Phillip Moran - Front of House Manager
